Adjustable Drop Hitch for 2 1/2″ Receiver, Heavy-Duty with Keyed-Alike Pin Locks – Vehiclex

I originally got this hitch to help improve my ground clearance over my current aluminum multi hitch.This hitch gave me the option for the 1 7/8” ball and tow hook over my existing hitch.It’s a *heavy* sucker. Solid steel and heavy gauge tubing. Overall, it seems to be a decently built hitch. The actual ball mount slides easily. Maybe a bit too easily.One of the misses (in my eyes).This complete hitch assembly as a unit has (what I feel) is an excessive amount of total movement up & down in my receiver. I don’t hear it too much, but I do hear it more than my aluminum hitch or even my previous solid bar . As a qualifier, I tend to load more tongue heavy than balanced. My truck (2002 F-350 CCLBD) and hitch receiver (2,700 lb tongue weight rating) can handle it .Another issue with this hitch kit.The locks. It’s nice that they’re keyed alike, but they’re *EXCESSIVELY* long. Like. 1.5 inch exposed shank long. Stacking all the o-rings they include still doesn’t take up all the space. If they include these same locks on the 2” receiver model (I got the 2.5” model), they’d need to include probably 20-25 o-rings to take up the space. It’s not *that* big of a deal, but the locks definitely feel like an afterthought or an “include whatever we have” type of choice.I feel that the locks should have been sized more appropriately for the size of receiver they’re included with. Depending on the type and dimensions of the receiver, you may not even be able to get safety chains hooked on. This is going to be the reason I knocked one star off. I was one of those guys. I couldn’t use the matching locks because I couldn’t attach the hooks of my 3/8” safety chains.Time will tell how the fit & finish holds up, but it feels like it has a heavy costing to help protect against rust & corrosion.
