Interesting curved key too - seems proprietary and would likely be difficult or impossible to pick or to make a master-type key for these. I guess that with other couple lock types, they could be much more susceptible to attack from a crowbar or Sawzall. This product definitely would defeat or deter those types of attack. R Reviewer March 16, 2026 Solid trailer lock with very little exposed gapI had been using a cheaper coupler lock before, and this one feels like a real step up. The first thing I noticed was the weight. It is heavy, solid, and doesn’t feel like some thin stamped metal piece. I put it on my utility trailer in the driveway last weekend, mainly because it sits outside a lot and I wanted something that would make it a pain to mess with. Setup was easy. The ball insert goes into the coupler, the outer shell fits over it, and the lock snaps in without any tools. Took maybe a minute the first time. The snug fit is the main reason I like it. There is very little open space around the coupler, so it would be harder to get pry tools in there. The lock cylinder has worked smoothly so far, and the keys feel a little more secure than the usual basic flat keys. The red coating is also bright enough that it is obvious from a distance, which honestly helps as a deterrent. One small thing, there is a little bit of play in the insert once everything is on. Not enough to bother me, but worth knowing. This is not magic theft proof security, but for the price it adds a serious layer of protection for a trailer, boat, or camper. That makes 5 stars for me. MTBr Reviewer March 16, 2026 Really solid tongue lockI hate to admit, bit this coupler lock is seemingly as good as my proven brand lock. I use a 2″ proven industries on my 16ft enclosed trailer. This Vehiclex seems to be of very similar quality. It weighs about 10lbd with the lock. Large enough to hold my chain ends as well as the 2-5/16 tongue well on my 20ft car hauler. Easy and quick to install. The puck lock isn’t as good of quality as Proven. Puck locks are cheap to replace though. I greased the keyhole and pins with graphite to be sure it won’t have issues seizing up. Pretty decent deal and a good theft detergent. Works well to make them take an easier trailer. C. King Reviewer March 14, 2026 Well made trailer coupler lock for 2-5/16" hitch balls.Security is vitally important for most trailer owners, especially those who have sizable investments in travel and heavy hauling rigs. I’ve been looking for a coupler lock for my 12k hydraulic dump trailer and was intrigued by the Vehiclex lock offered through Amazon Vine. The lock arrived in good shape in a double thick cardboard container–a good shipping choice given the thing’s weight. The overall design and manufacture was impressive, and the lock mechanism worked smoothly. In particular, I liked how the keyway is located under the lock body which should help keep it dry and free of corrosion. Mounting the lock is easy, too, since the hitch latch holds the ball section in place while you fit the lock body in place. The puck lock slid into place and locked smoothly. Does the Vehiclex lock have any downsides? Despite the manufacturer’s claim, the lock doesn’t fit as snugly as I’d hoped. That may simply be due to my hitch design (which is one of those shown as compatible on the product page). In any case, the lock body tips forward about 20 degrees, potentially making it vulnerable to a heavy hammer or crow bar. That’s not a deal-breaker since virtually any lock can be broken or removed by thieves with the right tools and motivation. But it’s the main reason I gave the lock 4 stars instead of 5. Overall, the Vehiclex 2-5/16-Inch Trailer Coupler Lock is a well made, competitively priced product. Recommended. AmznCust Reviewer March 12, 2026 Very well made, strong lock, great design.This is a very heavy duty lock. It fits a 2- 5/16″ perfectly. Its initially three pieces. The Ball goes on the trailer, the cover goes around the ball, completely covering it and preventing it from coming out, and the lock. You can even use your own lock. The lock seems like a decent lock. It’s a barrel style with a curved key. Comes with three keys and locks very well. Its easy to install and functions perfectly. Being that there is plenty of metal around the entire thing, cutting it off would take a long time and not ideal for a thief. I know there are easy ways to drill out locks but this has a strong base that will help prevent it from getting undone in a short amount of time.
