Ikelite Steady Tray for Go-Pro Kit with Handles
$ 6.35
I picked this up for a few dives I had planned that I haven’t had much lucked with my dslr.Not knowing this tray existed I was dreading purchasing an entire new setup from scratch as far as trays and light arms. When I finally found this tray I was thrilled that all of my arms and other mounting hardware from the gear I already owned. To switch to this tray all I had to do was remove my go pro from my regular housing, attach the go pro to this tray, and lastly use the quick release for my light arms and transfer them over. Super simple.After a few dives, I have considered removing the lower grip as I find myself using the side grips almost exclusively. I guess I just kept with what I knew and had been using. Before even diving, I switched to a metal tripod adapter for the go pro. I have had quite a few of the plastic adapters break in the past so upgrading that seemed necessary but I can’t speak to whether the mount included with this tray is any more reliable.Underwater, the full setup (go pro hero 4 black, dual sola 1200s, and dual light & motion locline arms) was “basically” neutrally buoyant. It was just a smudge negative, but hardly noticeable. If I let go, the whole setup would hover for a second or two, then slowly start sinking in salt water.All in all this has been a great addition to my gear that is able to be disassembled way down and easily packed for travel.
